While it one thing to see the denial, retreat, and appeasement from the Left, it is an entirely different thing to hear see it from President Bush and Condi Rice. In fact, it is downright unnerving. Yet, I hear from Ms. Rice that Israel must not "expand the war". And with no evidence to the contrary, I must assume that our Rock, President Bush, is starting to crumble. No, I do not accept the fact that these statements from Rice represent the typical political chicanery that foreign service demands. Israel's recent suspension from their anticipated ground offensive supports the notion that Rice's statements and the president's silence must be taken seriously. And what is one to think of our Rock, supporting an abbreviated "police action", to be followed by a cease fire leaving Hezbollah waving yellow flags of victory and digging new south Lebanese tunnels for their next attack on Israel? But what about the "peace force" that the UN *and* the United States Government is discussing, the one the would have the Lebanese military, the French, and UN troops serving as a buffer in Lebanon? I say that you only need rudimentary math to determine the credibility of that solution: 0+0+0 = 0.
